Our Story

Founded by Haitian-American siblings Rubens Amedee and Freddie Amedee-Benjamin, BATI School began as a vision during their 2010 relief efforts following Haiti's historic earthquake. Determined to create lasting change in their family's hometown of Miragoane, they spent five years turning their dream into reality.

What started as a school for 90 students has grown beyond expectations, with nearly 400 families requesting enrollment. Today, BATI School stands as both an educational institution and a thriving community revitalization project.

Our Innovation

Our educational model combines academic excellence with community engagement. Students and families participate through our "parents' pledge," contributing time and service to the school and local community. This creates a strong foundation of shared investment in each child's success.

Our campus also features agricultural programs that teach students valuable skills while supporting local food security—connecting education to real-world applications that benefit the entire community.

Our Impact

  • 8 full-time employees plus regular contractors
  • 400+ students seeking enrollment
  • Sustainable farming model funding free education
  • Community revitalization through local employment and development
